About

LeakSquare reads Japan's official documents in English.

A great deal of what moves Japan's rates, public finances and companies is published openly, on time, by the ministries, the Bank of Japan and the companies themselves. Most of it is published in Japanese. Each LeakSquare piece takes one of those documents and reads it line by line.

It is written for people outside Japan who hold assets, run businesses or allocate capital, and who want to see the original figure rather than a summary of it.

What you will not find here

  • Forecasts, price targets, or views on whether anything is cheap or expensive.
  • Recommendations to buy or sell any security.
  • Leaked or private material. Despite the name, every source is a public document, linked in the piece.

Where it appears

The same reading is published three times a week as a short video on YouTube, an email on Substack, a post on X, and an article on this site. Narration in the videos uses a synthetic voice.
